Strandbeesten prt3
A focus on the new ‘Strandbeest’. (More info: http://www.strandbeest.com/)
And finally it walked!
Strandbeesten prt2
Strandbeesten (go to: http://www.strandbeest.com/), made of PVC-electricity-tubes; exposed in a former Electricity-Factory; nice combi! The movement was present as projected movies; and some of the beasts could be pushed around. On the first floor you could feel how well the location and the beasts fitted together. This was the place where the beasts, that hadn’t survived their first life-experiences, were resting in peace. They were exposed like archaeological findings of dinosaurs. Body-remains were sorted; categorized and put together side by side; type by type.
Downstairs was an old one leaning on three poles. It hadn’t lost much of its beauty.
Strandbeesten prt1
A few Saturdays ago I went to the former Electricity-Factory in the Hague, to see the ‘Strandbeesten’-exhibition. These ‘Strandbeesten’ (‘Beach-Animals’) are a creation of artist Theo Jansen. For many years he is busy to design ‘new life-forms’; creatures, made of PVC-electricity-tubes, that can walk over the beach; driven by the wind. It is great to see them move (go to: http://www.strandbeest.com/). On the ground-floor of the Electricity-Factory the newest Strandbeest-creation was tested; and this Saturday (third of May) it was ‘set-free’ on the ‘Zuiderstrand’. A parade of enthusiasts carried the beast from the Factory to the Beach.
This is the new Animal.
New Menu Item: Strange
In Portfolio I published the theme Strange today. In this theme I tell a bit more about what fascinates me in this strange category.
Onder Portfolio heb ik vandaag het thema: Strange geplaatst. Hierin ga ik iets verder in op wat mij fascineert aan het fotograferen van gekke, onverwachte, vraagtekens oproepende onderwerpen.
Two moments in Time

Before Faded and Fresh | 2012 | Nikon D700 | Zeiss Makro-Planar 50mm. f/2 ZF.2 | 1/100 | F11 | ISO 1400
This one was taken in March 2012 at the NDSM in Amsterdam. Only thing I did was screwing up things a bit in Lightroom. 2 Days ago I was at the NDSM again. While strolling around, I suddenly saw the spot where I took the shot above in 2012.  Then and there I took the next shot. Two moments in time
