Somewhere in February 2013 I visited the Leeuwarder Bos, and did a post in the: The Dutch Woods-series (click here). On the third of August of this year a good friend of mine wanted to show me something special that had happened to this wood. When we got there sadness came upon me. In the beginning of 2014 there had been a huge storm. Lot’s of ‘test-tube-trees’ weren’t strong enough to resist the hard wind-blasts; and had cracked like matches. The place felt like a cemetery. Sad sight; although nature had grown some new branches on the leftovers.
Out Prison
Some shots from the courtyard. Through the gate, to the right you’ll find Café De Bak (bak=slang for prison). Soon I was focused on a rusty machine.
In Prison
Ietwat beklemmende sfeer.
The former prison of Leeuwarden is nowadays Museum Blokhuispoort. Where prisoners were kept, was a multi-media exposition going on. An oppressive atmosphere.
Zerken
In the Dutch wood near Leeuwarden; from yesterday’s post, lays an artificial monolith. It contains no graves; but on top there are a number of tombstones from the 18th century, that were kept in the Westerchurch till 1992.
