Trying to Cover a Black History | Nikon D700 | Nikkor 24-70mm. f/2.8G ED |24mm. | 1/400 | F4.5 | ISO 200

Iceland | Lakagigar | Lakagigar means ‘craters of Laki’. In June 1783 it erupted with huge explosions. The eruption lasted for 8 months. 565 km2 were covered with lava; 50% of the livestock died due to lava and toxic gases. This led to a famine and in the end 25% of the Icelanders lost their lives.

Iceland | Lakagigar | It was a rainy day; the trail was black and wet; and I posted myself in front of the bus for a while.
