First walk. Stones grabbed my attention. Some of them I had met before. The way they ‘are arranged’ make them look and feel like ancient remains of something unknown.

The Christmastree

(11 shots) | From Oaxaca we drove to Tehuantepec; and from there to San Cristóbal de las Casas. Along the way we made a few stops. One of them led us into boats, to take a look at the famous Arbol de Navidad, a Christmastree-like-shaped waterfall in the Sumidero Canyon.

The Christmas tree is some 1000’s of years old. It is a result of the natural hydrological cycle, and the physical and chemical characteristics of the rocks. Unfortunately, the Arbol de Navidad is under threat of being destroyed, because human activities have damaged the hydrological cycle. There are long periods without any water supply, so the Christmas tree is weakening and breaking.

To Shower

Before this, we stopped at the archaeological site of Yagul. It’s not far SE from Oaxaca. It was not large; but nicely located and not so visibly restored.
