Mexico from Slides prt17: Palenque
(11 Shots) | Palenque was a Maya City. It’s in the state of Chiapas. The Palenque ruins date from ca. 226 BC to ca. AD 799. What I liked a lot was that is was on a mountainside, surrounded by jungle; and that it had a more human scale. for example, the Temple of the Inscriptions was not ‘just’ a pyramid; but a pyramid with a temple on top, that you could actually enter.
I can’t help but think that you must be having good moments getting all those wonderful slides out of their more somber state… I imagine it to be a bit tedious at times, but rewarding… thank you for this voyage, Harrie… I’ve never been to Mexico, though I am much closer than you are to it… it makes me want to go…
My sentiments and thank you for your dedication and resiliency.
And thank you for your interest, Barry.
… I get them out of a dark, black, plastic box and give them back to the light after 22 years. 🙂 Yes, that feels good. For me the fun is to ‘relive’ that trip; and to ‘relive’ how I photographed in those days. It gets a little tedious after having cleaned and scanned 30 slides; with 20 more to go… 🙂 But once they are in the computer it is a challenge for me to get the best out of them, with my ‘now-a-days-photography-skills-and-insights’… And it feels good that people, like you (and Barry..), are enjoying these posts. So, thanks a lot, Caroline; and I hope you’ll go, some day.
It is a great history lesson and a look fir me that otherwise I won’t of seen
All the time I thought it was a recent trip
Great series Harrie
As always Sheldon
