When the days are getting shorter and the temperature is going down, I sometimes get caught by nostalgia. Not depressingly heavy, but enough to make me go through older photo’s of nice travels in warm summertimes. That’s how I ended up in Sweden 2009; and a lot of trees. I might as well show some more.
We drove to Kiel; and after a night on one of those terrible cruise-ferries, we reached Göteborg. We had to do a booze-test, before we were allowed to drive into Sweden, for our first destination: Kopparberg. (somewhere in the middle, above Örebro). We had arranged a self-drive-trip, so 4 km. above Kopparberg we were expected by some nice people who gave us the key to cottage nr. 21.

In Kopparberg we visited the ‘Tingshus’, which means something like ‘court of justice’. I liked the wooden skin; my daughter had seen it all quite quick.

The Church

There was a really nice church; with the same ‘skin’ and colors as the Tingshus; and a lot of wood on the inside.

These roofs were fascinating, with the texture and the rhythm.

  1. Looks a bit like the Norwegian stavkirker. I really liked the ‘Glory of Gold’ photo 😀

    • Hi, and thanks! I remember one of your posts with a stavkirker, closed for visitors. This one was more horizontal. I think I love the wood-constructions more than the church…

      • Looks like a great place. Is this where they make the famous cider? The wife, despite being Norwegian, does in fact like some things about Sweden! 😀

        • I think I’ve got the highlights up here. Don’t no much about cider; I have a healthy focus on good beers. Didn’t find one out there; but being dad, I probably didn’t search hard enough. 🙂

  2. I like your black & white images. They are amazing. Intrusive.

  3. A really nice series of photos!. I clearly have to dig a bit more in my own back yard…

    • Thank you, Fredrik. If you are that close, you might even find yourself some copper… 🙂

  4. Beautiful pictures. Especially “woods” is tremendous!!!
