Griffon Vulture in close Action

Griffon Vulture in close Action | Nikon D700 | Nikkor 24-70mm. f/2.8G ED | 70mm. | 1/800 | F6.3 | ISO 200

This is a Griffon Vulture. They are huge (2.3-2.7m. wingspan). Every now and then they pass by Tercui in the morning, flying quite low, looking for up-going air-streams that can carry them to extreme heights. I never managed to take a close shot. Several times I’ve sat alert waiting, prepared with my tele-zoom; but none of them showed up. Few times they suddenly were there, but when I came rushing down with the camera, they were only dots in the great, blue sky. But this summer I was lucky when quite a few of them appeared, low and close, when we were visiting an abandoned village called Claramunt. Unfortunately I didn’t bring the tele-zoom, so 70mm. was as close as I could get.
