An other work of ARTZUID 2013 is from Romuald Hazoumè from Benin. It’s titled: “Elf, Rien à foutre”, which means something like “I don’t give a damn’. It’s half a car filled with empty barrels. “I send back to the West that which belongs to them, that is to say, the refuse of consumer society that invades us every day”, he once sad. It’s a humorous, but serious sculpture. Soon I got grabbed by the details.

Een ander kunstwerk van ARTZUID 2013 is van Romuald Hazoumè uit Benin. Het is getiteld: “Elf, Rien à foutre”, wat zoveel betekent als “kan niks verdommen”. Het is een halve auto, gevuld met oude, lege, plastic vaten. “I send back to the West that which belongs to them, that is to say, the refuse of consumer society that invades us every day”, zei hij eens. Het is een humorvol, maar serieus werk. Al snel zat ik op de details.

ARTZUID 2013 is a street-sculpture exhibition around railway-station Amsterdam ZUID; lasts till 22 September. Intriguing was a work called ‘Holy World’ by the French-Algerian artist Kader Attia. 21 tombstone-shaped mirrors stick out of a lawn.

ARTZUID 2013 is een straat-sculptuur tentoonstelling rond station Amsterdam ZUID, die tot 22 september duurt. Intrigerend was een werk van de Frans-Algerijnse kunstenaar Kader Attia, getiteld ‘Holy World’. 21 grafzerkachtige spiegels steken uit het gras.

Tercui main street

The center of Tercui looks like this. Some of the houses are ruins. Others, like Casa Pratz, which is my sisters Casa, are still pretty good habitable. The houses bought by the Dutch are quite well renovated. There is electricity, but no drinking water. We have to get drinking water in jerry cans from a tap on the plaza major of Aren or from a pipe with a constant water flow from the mountains in Sopeira. Sometimes in the early morning you wake up with your head in a cloud.

Next week we will be in Spain; in my sisters house in a small village called Tercui. It’s about a 100 Km. above Lerida; on the right side of the N230. From a distance it looks like this.
